How and where can I pay my rates?

There are several ways to pay your rates.

PAYING IN PERSON Rates can be paid in person at:

Council's office:69 Green Street, Lockhart During normal business hours:Lockhart Monday - Friday; 8:30am - 4:00pm  Payment can be made by:Cheque,Cash or Money order.

HOW CAN I PAY USING DEFT?

1. AT AUSTRALIA POST

If you are paying through Australia Post you can pay with:Cash, Cheque your cheque should be made payable to Macquarie Bank on behalf of Lockhart Shire Council.or EFTPOS. You cannot pay by credit card at Australia Post.

2. BY TELEPHONE

DIAL 1300 301 090 (A 24 HOUR AUTOMATED SERVICE)

3. PAY FROM YOUR BANK ACCOUNT

If using the account transfer phone payment option, you will need to complete a registration form, providing both your DEFT reference number and your bank account details. The registration form is available from Council's Rate Section. When you dial up and use the system the payment will be debited from your nominated bank account.

4. PAY WITH YOUR CREDIT OR CHARGE CARD

When making a credit card payment, simply dial 1300 301 090 and make your payment by phone, no registration is necessary. Bankcard, Mastercard and Visa may be used.

5. PAY AUTOMATICALLY

You can program payments up to eleven months in advance. The maximum number of payments programmable in one call is five, but should you wish to program more than this, simply hang up, and call again.

6. BY MAIL

Send your cheque/money order and the tear-off DEFT payment slip from your rate notice in the reusable envelope to "Lockhart Shire Council"

When are my rates due?

If paying by instalments Council rates are due:

First Instalment due - 31st August:

Second Instalment due - 30th November:

Third Instalment due - 28th February:

Fourth Instalment due - 31st May.

If paying rates in full they must be paid by the first instalment date 31st August.
