Waste Management Charges
When Council determined its Waste Management Charges for this financial year Council was advised the Domestic Waste Management costs were not being fully met which was incorrect and there was only option available to recover the shortfall in its Waste Management Costs specifically by the introduction of a $40.00 charge on rateable farmland properties within the Shire. Further investigations revealed that Council had a number of options which it might consider rather than a single option and the consideration of these options may have resulted in a different decision being made by the Council when setting the charges for this financial year. Given the circumstances of these options being available Council resolved that the $40.00 waste charge on farmland properties for 2009/10 be reversed and any payments made be refunded and further a briefing session will be held later this year at which will be presented options for the introduction for a possibleTip Access Charge for Shire ratepayers.
