Associate Professor, Eye Doctor
Born: 9 April 1929, Dunedin, New Zealand.
Died: 10 February 1993, Sydney Australia, buried Burke NSW.
Education: Victoria University, Wellington; Glenleith Bible College, Dunedin; University of Otago, Dunedin; Studied ophthalmology, UK (Moorfields).
Career: Championed the treatment of trachoma and other eye diseases which were then prevalent amongst Aboriginal people. Arranged for teams of people to travel over Australia to treat trachoma patients, saving many from becoming blind. He trained doctors for work in Africa/Asia and set up a program to cure cataracts. He was awarded a Human Rights Medal, Australian Achiever Award, Australian of the Year, Order of Australia and had a medical foundation named after him.Contact details
