Country Music Entertainer and Recording Artist

Born: 13 June 1927, Kempsey NSW.

Died: 19 September 2003, Sydney NSW.

Career: wrote first song "The Way the Cowboy Dies" 1937; changed name to Slim Dusty 1938; launched the Slim Dusty Show 1954; recorded "Pub with No Beer" 1957; feature film "The Slim Dusty Movie" 1984; recorded album with daughter Anne 1989; Chairman of Country Music Association (1991-2000); Artist of Decade & Achiever of the Year 1990; Heritage Award 1989, 1988; voted National Living Treasure 1998; 35 Gold Guitar Awards; Father of the Year & first Senior Citizen of the Year 1999; released 105 albums, was working on 106th at time of death, titles include Slim Dusty Songs 1960, Walk a Country Mile 1979, No.50 Gold Anniversary 1981, Trucks on the Track 1985, Beer Drinking Songs of Australia 1986, Neon City 1987, G'day G'day 1989; Coming Home 1990. Gold & Platinum Records. Publications - Walk a Country Mile (autobiography) 1979.
