Champion Tennis Player

Born: 31 July 1951, Barellan NSW, to Ken & Melinda Goolagong.

Education: Willoughby Girls High, Metropolitan Business College.
Career: In 1962 she began training with Mr Vic Edwards, tennis coach, in Sydney. Nine years later she won Wimbledon. She won two Wimbledon's singles 1980, 1971 (aged 19) nine years apart and reached at least the semi-finals in eight Wimbledon's. Fifth woman player to win a million dollars in tournament prize money. Finalist in a big-four singles event (Wimbledon, US Open, French Open, Australian Open) 18 times including seven wins. Won 92 international tournaments. Won the Australian Open four times. Won 37 junior singles titles in Australia. Board Australian Sports Commission since 1995; First Australian Aboriginal to compete at Wimbledon or represent Australia in World Tennis; Member Australian Federation Cup Team 1970.
