Australia Day Celebrations 2005

Lockhart Shire community has a strong national spirit and for a number of years now the majority of the planning and coordination of Australia Day activities are organised by local committees, with Councils financial assistance.

In 2005 Australia Day was hosted by the community of Tootool.

The Ambassador of Australia Day 2005 was Stuart Maunder who is currently Executive Producer of Opera Australia.

The day's festivities included yabbie races, rooster chases, greasy pig hunt, Wagga Accordion Band and Lockhart Town Band, flag raising ceremony, citizenship awards, fun run, Little Mr Swagman and Little Miss Tootool.
