Pioneer Memorial Gates
Last modified: November 17, 2009 - 11:39 PM
The Pioneer Memorial Gates are a unique memorial to Lockhart District Pioneers. The gates form the entrance to the Lockhart Showground.
Constructed of concrete "wool bales", they represent the wealth that wool provided. Wagon wheels represent the mode of travel of our early settlers. Names of the original properties are stenciled on the wool bales. The gates were designed by a former resident of Lockhart Ms Wendi Nolan.
The Pioneer Memorial Gates are located at the southern end of Urana Street across the railway line.
