Yerong Creek Estate

Yerong Creek Estate is a small vineyard of two hectares located on the Olympic Highway 4kms north of Yerong Creek.

Rob and Julie Yates along with their family operate the vineyard in conjunction with "Barwon", the family farm. It is very much a local venture employing Yerong Creek people to handpick and prune the vines.

The first plants were planted in August 1996. Unfortunately on the 21st December 1997 the vineyard suffered a terrible setback when bushfire destroyed 90% of the vines. It was then lovingly restored to produce Chardonnay and Shiraz wines rich in berry flavours.

A cellar door has been set up for visitors to come and taste the fruits of hard labour. The cellar door is attached to the woolshed at "Barwon" and overlooks the Yerong Creek valley and depicts the rural environment, with its corrugated iron, wood decor and long verandah. The cellar door is open every day from 10am to 4pm and visitors are most welcome to sample a free taste of wine.
